I walked into Mateo's room expecting to see him sleeping peacefully, and this is what I found:



He's finally rolling back to front consistently! Looks like we'll have to put some bumpers on his crib...

Six Month Stats

We completely forgot to post earlier that Mateo had his six-month checkup on Monday! The kid is healthy as can be and continues to thrive. He's still a big boy, weighing 19 lbs (73rd percentile), with a head circumference in the 85th percentile, and measuring 28 1/4" inches long (a whopping 94th percentile)! He's tall and not overly chubby - no wonder he's on the tallest peg of his exersaucer and his feet still hit the ground.

All We Are Saying...Is Give Solids a Chance

Since Mateo has more than doubled his birth weight and hit the six month mark, we got the go-ahead from his pediatrician to give him a little taste of rice cereal goodness. Yes, folks...Mateo has started down the long road of solid food! His first attempts at rice cereal resulted in the majority dripping down his chin, but he definitely got some down. As you can see, he wasn't too excited about the taste, texture (or really anything about it, for that matter), but he pushed through. ;)

Definitely not a fan, but he'll get there!


In other news, Mateo tried out his first sippy cup this weekend. He got the spout into his mouth (and even got some water, we think)...but mostly, he just likes to chew on it. Teething?

New Sounds

Mateo is making all sorts of fun, new sounds. He has new laughs, new squeals, new babbles and gestures! He's practically a different baby! ;-)

My First Mother's Day and Other Stuff

Mateo enjoyed a fun mother's day with Mommy, Daddy, Grandma, Grandpa and Aunt Kelsey. Brunch was had at Barrio, and Mateo got Mommy a pretty pearl and diamond pendant (with a little help from Daddy).

This video has nothing to do with Mother's Day, but it's pretty darn cute. Mateo sure gets a kick out of his Daddy.



Mateo has been attending daycare three days a week since May 6. While he prefers Mommy and Daddy, he does just fine at Paideia...and he's the only boy in the infant room! Lots of girls to flirt with! Who could resist such a cutie?

Six Months +

Mateo is 6 months old (well, as of May 12...it's been awhile since we posted). He can sit up by himself (although needs help righting himself if he falls over). He plays with his toys and puts everything in his mouth. Mateo also discovered the joy of grabbing the dogs - I'm not sure they like it as much as he does, but oh well.
